HIGHLY recommend Certified Restoration! I have never experienced such a high level of customer service -anywhere. Tad coordinated all activities related to the water leak -first time I had experience such a disaster. He walked me through what to expect and provided information to questions I hadn't even asked yet. Each team member working in my home was professional, courteous, and helpful. Paulo, Tyler, and Ulysses were invaluable with all the help they provided. In my wildest dreams, I would never expect such top notch service in the midst of my small disaster. Tad and team really helped me stay level with all the chaos -especially the insurance piece. Also incredible attitudes all around. Thank you for ALL your help and kindness! Special shout out to Michael for assembling an incredible crew and anyone I may have missed mentioning by name.

I recently had some water damage due to a storm and Michael came to the rescue. I made a call to him late at night and he took the time to walk me through the process and assure me they would take care of it ASAP. He came over the next day as promised and was very informative. He was straight to the point and did not beat around the bush. Customer service skills were exceptional from the minute I spoke to him to the time the job was done. Certified Restoration saved me on cost and prevented any further damage to my home. I will definitely be referring people to Certified Restoration when they need the job done right. Thanks Michael.

This business is amazing! Highly recommended! I called for an urgent (same day) restoration due to a water leak on a Sunday and spoke with Tad. He was great to work with and made everything very easy from the beginning to end. The level of professionalism is on point and the continuous communication was very much appreciated. Tomas and his partner came out to do the restoration that Sunday. They did an amazing job from cleaning out the damages to tidying up the space and helping with the leak. Overall, great team and a great company.

Overall great company to deal with. They were called in when my condo was flooded by a main line backup. They arrived promptly and quickly got to work. Tomas, the lead technician that day, explained everything they were doing and what the next steps would look like. They were extremely accommodating and over the next few days, Tad the manager, kept communicating what was happening next. They also worked hand in hand with a 3rd party that came in to get rid of asbestos that had been detected in the sheet rock. If you need water abatement, look no further. Highly recommend!

What to Expect from Certified Restoration

We’ve served San Diego for over 25 years. Our skilled technicians handle your home with care.

When it comes to flood & water damage restoration, our team works hard to guarantee results. We’re always on standby, ready when emergencies happen, to ensure you’re taken care of 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

When you contact us, our experienced flood & water damage restoration technicians head straight to your property – equipped with advanced industry technology. We thoroughly assess the extent of your water damage and get to work. And we leave no stone unturned. Our technicians will also test for mold, making sure you’re well-protected.

A few of the important pieces of restoration equipment we work with include:
Dehumidifiers

These devices help remove humidity from the air, removing moisture from water-damaged surfaces as a result.

Air Blowers/Movers

Just as dehumidifiers help to remove moisture from the air, air blowers/movers remove water from objects and surfaces.

Moisture Meters

Moisture meters provide moisture level information in areas that are difficult to see. This is key to assessing risk of mold growth.

IR Cameras

Infrared cameras help our water damage repair experts identify wet areas and can be useful when determining the source of a leak.

Heat Lamps

You probably already know that heat dries surfaces & materials. Our water damage restoration technicians are equipped with high-quality heat lamps.

Wood Floor Air Mats

Removing water & water vapor from porous hardwood flooring can be a challenge. With wood floor air mats, moisture can be removed more effectively.

Heating

We also use a variety of heating tools to ensure we’re prepared to dry out your property thoroughly.

Baseboard Tools

With the right equipment, removing and replacing water damaged baseboards is easier than ever.

Our Water Damage Restoration Clean-Up Process

When it comes to flood and water damage restoration in San Diego, every situation is different, and processes can vary on a case-by-case basis. However, we’ve been in the restoration business for a long time. We’ve seen it all. Through our years on the job, our technicians have gained the knowledge and experience to assess each situation accurately. They follow the proper steps and use top-of-the-line industry technology and tools to ensure your property is back to normal in no time.

Keeping you safe is key

Your health and safety are important to us. That’s why when we visit your property and assess the damage, we may suggest removing and disposing of some materials. Of course, we will use cleaning materials with antimicrobial agents to restore damaged areas to their original condition. However, dependent upon the type of water that has damaged your property or the severity of the damage, it may be necessary to dispose of certain items. Before doing so, we will discuss the assessment with you, walk you through the process, and let you know before any items are discarded.

There may also be certain items which need to be replaced, including drywall and insulation. Our water damage restoration experts will determine where and when you need to replace materials to restore your property to its natural state.

We’ll also check for mold because it thrives in moist environments. Once we’ve assessed the damage, we will walk you through the process and discuss what needs to be done. Our team will also discuss preventative methods to help ensure it doesn’t reappear after the restoration process is complete.

The Insurance Claims Process

When unexpected flooding damages your San Diego property, you already have enough on your mind. Coordinating with an insurance company just adds to the stress.

On top of that, you probably don’t need to be told the company will try to avoid paying out. Sometimes, this is fair. For instance, maybe you sustained water damage because you didn’t fix a broken sump pump in a timely manner. However, there may also be instances when these matters are up for debate.

We know the insurance claims process can be a major headache. That’s why we will help by working directly with your insurer, taking over a major (and less-than-enjoyable) task.

Frequently Asked Questions

Don’t want to settle for a flood and water damage restoration company in San Diego who won’t deliver quality results. It’s essential that you hire reliable professionals who’ll do the job right the first time. Look for key traits when evaluating water cleanup and restoration teams, such as:
  • Experience: There are two main reasons to prioritize experience when you need someone to clean up water damage in San Diego. First, the longer a company has been in business, the greater the odds they’ll know how to address your specific flood damage efficiently and effectively. Secondly, a company that’s been in business for a long time probably does right by its customers. When you hire someone to clean up water damage on your property, you need to hire someone who will perform the work thoroughly. A company that delivers poor results won’t have the kind of reputation that allows water damage professionals to stay in business very long.
  • Proximity & Availability: When you need water damage restoration services, you need help fast. No property owner can afford to wait for assistance when flood damage strikes. Thus, any vendor you choose should be available 24/7, and should be close enough to reach you immediately.
  • Licensed & Insured: This is key. Any time you hire someone to work on your property, you need to select a business that holds all the necessary licenses and insurance policies. Insurance protects you, while licenses give you the peace of mind that comes from knowing you’re hiring genuinely qualified experts.
  • Positive Reviews: Researching companies that offer water damage restoration in San Diego ahead of time allows you to learn more about their reputation. You should look for a business that can boast numerous positive reviews from happy customers.
Natural Disasters and Floods San Diego is a gorgeous city. However, it’s had its fair share of bad weather. Recent hurricanes, storms, and flooding have made it essential to have a plan should you need water damage repair. They can wreak havoc on your property, causing extreme damage and even mold. Be sure to do your research and have a licensed and certified water damage restoration company in mind should you face an emergency situation. Plumbing Issues & Burst Pipes Maintaining your plumbing is essential when you own any type of property. Unfortunately, you might not realize there’s a problem until a minor issue results in an outright emergency. Let’s face it, a busted pipe that’s flooding your home is an emergency and never happens at the “right time”. Don’t wait until you’re standing ankle deep in flood waters to find a reliable water damage repair company in San Diego. Make sure you’re familiar with the businesses in your area that offer 24/7 emergency water damage restoration services so you can get the help you need – when you need it. Appliance Malfunction Water damage is often the result of a malfunctioning air conditioners, water heaters, dishwashers, and similar appliances. Again, although some degree of proper maintenance can help you prevent such malfunctions, all these appliances are complex machines. They can break down without warning even if you’re good about staying on top of upkeep. If this happens, you need to know who to call. You also need to understand the different types of water that may flood and damage your property. They include the following:
  • Clean: Clean water typically floods your property when a pipe bursts, an appliance malfunctions, a tub or sink overflows, the roof leaks, melting snow or rain leaks inside, or a toilet tank breaks. As the name implies, this is the least harmful type of water, as it contains no bacteria. However, when it strikes, you still need to get in touch with a water damage restoration company sooner rather than later. Clean water will damage any areas it enters. The longer you wait to address the problem, the greater the damage will be.
  • Grey: Grey water refers contaminated water. Toilets, washing machines, dishwashers, failing sump-pumps, and broken aquariums may all be sources of grey water. Although it’s always important to stay safe after a flood, it’s particularly important to avoid contact with grey water, as the bacteria living inside could cause illness. Additionally, carpet pads affected by grey water will need to be disposed of right away. If grey water isn’t properly cleaned up, it will become black water within 48 hours.
  • Black: Black water is the most hazardous of the categories. Along with bacteria, it may contain toxic materials, such as pesticides and other chemicals. When it floods your property, anyone (including pets!) exposed to it can be in serious danger until professionals remove it. Potential sources of black water include ground surface water, toilet backflows, rising water from rivers or streams, and any type of sewage.
Once more, if you can’t safely approach the area of the flooding, don’t! You’re much better off waiting for experts to help. However, if you can, start drying hardwood flooring by removing other items from the area and placing them somewhere else to dry. Next, remove as much of the water as you can with a wet vacuum. Don’t make the mistake of stopping because it doesn’t look like there’s any more water to vacuum up. Hardwood floors are porous, meaning a lot of water will have soaked into them. Once the area is dry, scrub it with a non-sudsy disinfectant, then vacuum again to remove any moisture left behind. Install a dehumidifier near the affected area and run it for at least 24 hours to dry the wood thoroughly. You might also want to run strong fans to boost the effects. Keep an eye on the floor and the surrounding area in the coming days and weeks. If you notice any signs that mold or mildew is developing, scrub it away with a mixture of baking soda and water. Our technicians will also help you monitor for mold during the restoration process.
A wet vacuum will also come in handy if you ever need to dry wet carpet. Buying one is a smart investment for any San Diego resident. Carpets can become odorous when it’s moist. After removing as much of the moisture as you can with a wet vacuum, open up windows and doors near your carpeting to encourage airflow and help remove the odor. You’ll likely have to remove carpet padding if the water damage is relatively substantial. You should also steam clean the carpet to remove contaminants. If some moisture remains trapped in your carpeting, sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda over it. Doing so helps to draw the moisture out. After half an hour, vacuum it up.
Drying plasterboard or drywall can be a somewhat difficult process. Accessing the plasterboard alone can be challenging. You also need the right tools for the job. Since water damage can reduce the overall structural integrity of plasterboard, you may need to understand how to determine the full extent of the damage as well. Because of this, plasterboard restoration is best left to water damage repair experts.
Drying crawl spaces can be difficult because of their small size. That’s not to say drying this type of space is impossible. To start, remove any debris and items in the crawl space (as always, personal safety is critical during this stage of the process). You may need to remove standing water. A portable sump pump can help if this is the case. You’ll also need to dry out the various surfaces and materials in the space, including components that may be easy to overlook, such as wood framing. Run a dehumidifier and fans to remove all moisture. Of course, because this process is sometimes challenging, you may need professional help. Our water damage restoration experts will be glad to offer it.
Baseboards are in vulnerable locations when flooding strikes. They’ll likely need to be removed. Doing so helps prevent moisture from building up on and around your drywall, which in turn helps to guard against mold. Removing the baseboard may be relatively easy. If the water damage is substantial, it will likely pull away from the wall without much effort. If it doesn’t, you can carefully use a screwdriver and hammer to remove it. Baseboards often sustain significant water damage after flooding occurs. Although a restoration team might be able to dry them, it’s usually best to simply replace them entirely.
The process of drying insulation varies depending on the type of insulation you have. Fiberglass insulation may potentially be saved after it gets wet. A dehumidifier and fans can help in the process. However, while wearing protective gear, you might want to remove the affected batts and place them in a sunny area where they are more likely to dry quickly. Don’t assume fiberglass insulation can always be saved. Although water itself doesn’t always damage it substantially, it is a good conductor of heat. It can render fiberglass insulation useless if it’s allowed to build up in air pockets. This is another reason to contact professionals right away when you have water damage in San Diego. The sooner they have a chance to work on your property, the better the odds they’ll save your insulation. Cellulose insulation is a little different. In some cases, if a small spot of insulation is wet, you can remove that small section and let it dry it out in the sun. In other cases, when the moisture has been allowed to spread (which happens easily with cellulose insulation), it can promote mold and mildew growth. You’ll need to replace your insulation if this happens.
